Don’t Entertain Fear – Monday, 13th July, 2020

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness”. Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)

When a plague strikes, almost everyone responds by fear. This has been a usual response of people throughout history and all through the Holy Scriptures. Actually, response to a plague by fear isn’t merely history, it’s also happening in our time when the entire world is under the attack of the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently lots of people, including Christians, are upset, dismayed and hopeless and are running helter-skelter in search of solutions.

As a Christian, you are sustained by what God speaks. When you lose the voice of God you are sunk.

As a child of God, however, you are not supposed to be afraid in times like these because your God is always with you to help, to protect and to strengthen you. This is what the opening Scripture above assures us. You must understand that as a Christian, you are sustained by what God speaks. When you lose the voice of God you are sunk.

Matthew 14 verse 22 through 33 gives a treatise of Jesus and his disciples. In verse 29, Jesus told Peter a simple word ‘come’ and with what Jesus spoke, Peter managed to walk on water without sinking. Nevertheless in verse 30, when Peter saw the boisterous wind fear gripped him and he began to sink right away. He, through fear, lost the word of Jesus that sustained him on the sea hence the sinking.

This entails that when one is afraid his or her faith in God is lost. It is in such a state that the devil takes advantage of them and vanquishes them. I’ve noticed that Good Christians are dying because of the Corona Virus because they are losing their faith in the God of protection through fear. You don’t want to die like one of them. Have unwavering faith in the God who is always there to protect you!

Confession

God hasn’t given me a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind! The Lord is my help and my protection. I serve an immutable God; He never changes His truth and promises towards me. He shall never leave me nor forsake me. My protection is assured in Him, therefore, I won’t entertain fear. Glory be to His Holy Name forever!
