Give Him the Details – Apostle Joseph Ziba
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. Philippians 4:6 AMP
I heard an amazing story of a certain renowned Man of God of our time. During the early years of his ministry, he trusted God for an office chair. He took the matter to God in prayer. Every time he prayed he said “Lord, grant me an office chair”. He did that for almost a year and God seemed not to respond to him.
After getting weary of praying for the same thing, he said: “Lord, it seems you don’t want to answer my prayer; therefore, I won’t ask you for an office chair anymore”. God’s response was interesting. He said “I’ve been hearing your prayer for an office chair but I didn’t know exactly the type of chair that you are looking for— you didn’t give me specifics: the size, the color, the design et cetera. So what did you expect me to give you?”
The man of God repented and described the details of the chair he wanted and God granted him. Praise God!
God owns the whole world but He gave a will to people to choose what and how much they want to get from Him. He doesn’t simply give you anything: He gives you what you ask for. No wonder the opening Scripture above says that you should give Him definite requests when you pray.
The Bible describes God as a good Father who knows how to give good gifts to His children (Matthew 7:11). However, to Him, a good gift is the one which you get after asking.
PRAYER
Dear Father, You’ve opened my eyes to that which You want me to do when I pray. From today onwards, I’ll be describing in detail that which I want to get from You as it is Your will, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
