In Romans 4 verse 11, the bible quotes about Abraham that he received a sign of circumcision as a seal of righteousness. In other words, He was sealed with righteousness by circumcision.
This is the same concept that happened with you when you received the Holy Spirit. The bible says that “in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise” Ephesians 1: 13. A seal communicates ownership, protection, validation, and authentication. In this context it talks of the relationship with the Father.
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise
Ephesians 1:13
It is not just being sealed for nothing. Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 1 verse 22 explains that “who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” Guarantee of what? That we are the children of God as well put in Romans 8 verse 16 and that we have an inheritance in God as indicated in Ephesians 1 verse 14.
Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22
The seal is God’s signature of validation over your life, it proves Himself on your life, and a demonstration to others, of the genuineness of your faith. The Holy Spirit provides the inward assurance in you.
When you believed on Jesus and received Him, the Father, sealed you with the Holy Spirit as the seal upon your heart. He authenticated, validated, and signed His ownership on you.
You are His own by being sealed with the Holy Spirit.
