In His teaching on the mount, popularly called the “Sermon on the Mount”, Jesus said a powerful statement to say that “Ye are the light of the world”. This is one powerful description of a Christian.
Being the light of the world, it is not about how you feel or where you are, it is what Jesus said about you. Only question is which light are you and why the light?
When talking about the Light of the world, light is intended to confront darkness which means that you are brought in as a tool of confronting the world’s dark activities. Light has power to chase darkness without discussion, it is designed in that way that it is not overcome by darkness.
You will realize that being the Light of the world, is more of a responsibility as a child of God that it is just your identity.

For you to not doubt this which you are, and to be sure of how powerful it is, you need to know where this light comes from. In the bible, in Genesis 1, God called for light in verse 3 which is before the creation of illuminous bodies which happened in verse 14. Which tells you that, the light that was created in verse 3 of Genesis 1 is not the light from the sun or moon, it is a higher and special light which came from God Himself.
This is why Jesus was confident when calling you the light of the world, He concluded with bold statements to say that “A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” Because He was so confident of the type of light that you are. It is beyond the light of the day.
You are the light of the world to bring order, to confront the world and bring truth. As the light of the world, you are responsible to make where you are a place where no darkness finds space to hide because light is designed to chase darkness.
This is who you are by being a Child of God: You are the LIGHT OF THE WORLD!
