The Law of Receiving from God

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Luke 11:10 KJV
I recall sometime past, God saved a certain man (this man surrendered his life to Christ) who was renowned and an icon of the witch doctors of that time. I was so excited to get such glad tidings. However, some sense of jealousy welled up in me (which wasn’t good of course as God doesn’t want us to be jealous of anyone) when I overheard that it was by the prayers of few “unpopular” fellowship of believers that helped save the witch doctor’s life .
As a minister, I went to God (in prayer) to complain and ask why He wasn’t using me to save such caliber of people. I got shocked by His response. He simply asked me a simple question which changed my life; “When did you ask for it?”
You see, when it comes to God you only receive that which you ask for. This is the principle that’s highlighted in the verse above. You don’t receive that which you are not asking for.
What is it that you want right now? Do you want a good marriage, a good business, a good job, the anointing, and so on? Don’t keep your mouth shut; voice it out before God and He’ll hear you. The Bible says God knows how to give good and perfect gifts to His children (Matthew 7:11). However, a good gift is only that which you get after asking.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the opportunity to get whatever I want in prayer. I commit myself to speaking, asking and communing with you in prayer because that’s the only way I get what I want in the name of Jesus. Amen.
